Discours de Barack Obama • Du « Yes we can» au « Yes we did»
Le rival de Barack Obama a très vite reconnu sa défaite, John McCain le félicite et promet même de l’aider face aux épreuves qui l’attendent. McCain a également souligné le caractère historique de cette élection. Le président Bush a appelé également le vainqueur.
Mais bien sur, c’est au sein de la population américaine que la victoire de Barack Obama a été saluée par une explosion de joie. Et c’est à Chicago, la ville où il s’est enraciné et où l’attendaient des milliers de ses partisans, que Barack Obama a célébré sa victoire et remercié tous ceux qui avaient voté pour lui.
Le « Yes we can» , slogan de campagne de Barack Obama s’est transformé hier soir en « Yes we did» , nouvelle formule pour le prochain président des Etats-Unis. Devant des centaines d’américains réunis au grand parc à Chicago, pour le discours de cette élection, Barack Obama a une fois de plus insisté sur l’espoir qui est né durant ces, quasiment, 2 ans de campagne. « L’espoir qui, dit-il, s’est réalisé ce mardi, 4 novembre 2008 ». « Le changement est arrivé en Amérique pour ceux qui doutaient que tout est possible », « Le sénateur de l’Illinois, ajoute t-il, la réponse a été donnée aujourd’hui ». le message martelé fut donc celui de l’optimisme, même si Barack Obama a reconnu qu’il y a de nombreux défis, que la tache est immense devant le peuple américain. « Deux guerres, dit-il, une planète en péril et la plus grave crise financière depuis un siècle. La route sera longue, le chemin escarpé ». En tout cas, Barack Obama a joué le rôle de l’honnêteté, demandant l’unité du pays et n’hésitant pas non plus à aborder l’épineuse question raciale.
Barack Obama est donc le premier afro-américain à devenir président des Etats-Unis, et c’est tout simplement historique.
